I’m heading back out to Western Canada for a quick four day trip. This time I’m going to Calgary and Banff. It’s been about four years since I’ve been to Calgary and even longer since I’ve been to Banff, and I can’t wait to go back! Although it will be October, and there will probably be meters of snow piled up there, I’m totally up for it.
When I first went out west I was following my heart. I really didn’t know why I needed to explore that part of Canada so badly, I just knew that I had to go. It was back in 2006 when I had my first solo adventure as I traveled through Vancouver, Whistler, Vancouver Island, and then headed up north through the Rockies to stop in Jasper, Banff, Lake Louise, Moraine Lake, the Columbia Icefield Glacier and many other beautiful scenic look out points.
Needless to say, I’m really looking forward to seeing those big, beautiful mountains once again, but the original motivation for this trip is music; sweet, wonderful, ska punk rock. It just so happens that I’m going to see the band I flew out to California to see back in January, and since I discovered that it’s completely worth flying across the continent to see them, I thought I might as well do it again! Oh, and watching them once just isn’t enough, so my friend and I will be catching two shows, two nights in a row. Yah, we really like their new album – check it out!
Looks like my heart has lead me back to the mountains to enjoy some live music.
How far would you travel to see one of your favourite bands/artists?
