From Scenic Walks to Home Workouts

From Scenic Walks to Home Workouts

This is day 13 of the 15 Days to Freedom Blogging Challenge from The Suitcase Entrepreneur. Today’s challenge is to identify which one thing we will introduce into our life to fuel our mind, body or soul.

Whether you’re on the road or at home, balance is critical. How do you fuel your body while traveling? I would maintain and improve my physical shape by grocery shopping for fresh veggies and fruits daily and would eat whatever amazing, healthy food I could find throughout the different cities. I also walked – a lot. Up hills, through cities, and along coastlines. Whenever possible, I would grab a map and walk to my destinations instead of taking public transportation. Walks, especially scenic walks were so rejuvenating. The beautiful photo above and video below were taken at the Queenstown Botanic Gardens in New Zealand.

Since there aren’t many mountain coastal paths where I live, I’m going to create a routine for improving my physical shape at home. I already eat pretty healthy, so I just need to fight the temptation for unhealthy snacks and start cooking new veggie recipes. I’m also going to adjust my schedule for exercise. I currently do about 5-10 minutes of yoga in the morning, but I’d like to alternate between yoga and strength/cardio workouts. That will be a tough habit to get into at 6:30 a.m., but I can find some inspiration from a few awesome friends that are already doing that daily! I tried working out one day last week and felt great the whole day. Exercise really can have a positive impact on mood. According to PsychCentral, “Daily exercise becomes a self-reinforcing habit motivated by positive feelings”. I’m hoping that once I build a routine, and feel the daily positive effects that I’ll be able to keep up with the habit.

Have you recently added a positive habit to your life to improve your body? If so, what are you up to?
